The job done on my home was exceptional. The men prepared and didn’t the job even though we had weather issues at the time. Suggestion on paint colors was also spot on. Well pleased with the staff and production by Hill Country Painting.

I have waited a very long time to write this review because I felt bad writing a review that wasn’t gushing with praise, and the more time passed, it seemed odd to write now. But. I was NOT 100% happy with the work, and I think it’s important to be honest. So, here goes: I had HCP and two other contractors come over for a bid. HCP was polite, patient with my questions and took photos and measurements. I received a quote within a half hour. Second contractor was super cocky, no photos (“didn’t need to, it was an easy job”), no measurements. He made me feel like it was just easy money, and not my home. I waited several hours for a quote, even though the project was supposedly easy. Third contractor was really nice, but worked alone and said he didn’t feel comfortable taking the job, and backed out. Kudos to him for that. I decided that although HCP was a higher quote, I didn’t get a good impression of the second guy at all. I called to accept the proposal and immediately received a bill for down payment, which I paid upon receipt. The interior decorator was a pleasure to work with, and very helpful. Write down all of your questions before she comes because the time flies by quickly!!! She was awesome, though, thank you. On the day of the painting, the project manager and his supervisor walked with me through each room to point out issues and assign paint colours. These guys were different from the first one I met with for the bid. The crew was covering furniture as I left. When I came home that evening, I was happy that they had completed the ceilings and all but one room. The second day was for painting trim and the last room. When I got home, I walked through the house with the supervisor, not pointing out issues, but very happy with the colour scheme and how the house looked so new and different. I gave him $100 as a tip to share with his crew for finishing so quickly. I received a bill that night for the remainder of the quote and paid it upon receipt. I called the project manager to see when we would do a final walkthrough and he said that’s what I did the day before with the supervisor. I was not aware that we were doing a walkthrough, I thought it was more like seeing my reaction to the house. I hadn’t pointed out a single flaw, and was not asked if anything needed to be fixed or told that it was the final walkthrough. I told the project manager that there were a lot of things that needed to be fixed and I wanted them fixed, even if it was being picky, because I spent so much money (around $4500). Nevermind the tip, which I read was appropriate, so I did. We went back and forth trying to figure out a time we could meet up but ended up agreeing that I send photos to him. I took photos and left very detailed maps of each room with the areas circled and notated with the number of the photo. There was paint splatter on the floors (very fine, but shouldn’t be there anyways), some paint on the appliances and furniture, and the largest (and not even repainted) was in the bathroom where the paint came off when they removed the paint (how didn’t they notice that?). There are nail holes that were not filled prior to being painted, and nails in the ceiling that were not flushed and primed before painting. I never called them back because I felt like I was being a pain and I felt I was being too picky, but hey, it was a lot of money and I said up front that I would be picky about it. I never received a thank you email or call for the project or to see if I was happy, which I thought was odd. They were so quick to send the bills. So, yes, it has been months since the work was done (Feb 20223), but no, I am not 100% happy with the work. My recommendation would be to verify that all walls will be properly prepped per the agreement and that the project manager be there for a final walkthrough. Would I hire them again? Maybe. I would check more places first, but they were nice and they finished before schedule. The work was not shoddy. I just expected better follow through.
